What glass pool fencing costs in NZ

A realistic look at glass pool fencing prices in 2026: the per-metre ranges, what makes a quote go up or down, and where semi-frameless saves money.

Nobody likes a website that dodges the price question, so let us be straight: the honest answer is that it depends on the site, but there are real ranges, and knowing what drives them puts you in a much stronger position when the quotes come in.

The figures below are indicative for greater Auckland in 2026 and are a starting point only. Every job differs. For an accurate number, book a free on-site measure.

Indicative per-metre ranges

  • Semi-frameless glass pool fencing: roughly $250 to $400 per lineal metre installed. Slimline posts between panels keep the glass thinner and the price lower.
  • Frameless glass pool fencing: roughly $350 to $650+ per lineal metre installed, using thicker 12mm toughened glass on spigots for that seamless look.
  • Compliant glass gate: typically $700 to $1,400 each, including self-closing hinges and compliant latching hardware.

What moves the price

Frameless or semi-frameless

This is the biggest lever. Frameless uses thicker glass and more precise fixing, so it costs more than semi-frameless for the same run.

Glass and hardware grade

Coastal and waterfront sites need 316 marine-grade stainless rather than 304. It costs more up front and saves you a rusting, weeping fence a few years later, so it is money well spent near the sea.

Site and access

Fixing into solid concrete is straightforward. Sloping ground, stepped runs, existing timber decks and tight access all add labour. A long straight run is cheaper per metre than lots of short returns and corners.

Gates and returns

Each gate and each corner adds hardware and fabrication. Two gates and several returns will lift a quote more than the raw metre count suggests.

Where you can save without cutting corners

  • Choose semi-frameless where the look still works. It is fully compliant and noticeably cheaper over a long run.
  • Keep the run simple. Fewer corners and gates means less fabrication.
  • Coordinate with your builder on a new build so the barrier is planned in, not retrofitted.
  • Never save by dropping to inland-grade stainless on a coastal site. That is a false economy.

Frequently asked

Is frameless or semi-frameless cheaper?

Semi-frameless is cheaper. It uses thinner glass and slimline posts, typically $250 to $400 per lineal metre installed, against roughly $350 to $650+ for frameless.

Why do coastal jobs cost more?

Coastal sites need 316 marine-grade stainless fixings to resist salt air. They cost more than inland-grade 304 but avoid a rusting fence within a few years.

How much is a pool gate?

A compliant glass pool gate typically runs $700 to $1,400 including self-closing hinges and compliant latching hardware.

Can you give a price over the phone?

We can give a rough range, but an accurate quote needs an on-site measure so we can see the ground, access, returns and gates. That visit is free.
